Turks clutch recomendations 700 SX GREAT

I just finished a 720 mile vacation this year I installed Turks clutching recomendation for trail performace. This is like riding a totally different sled. power to the ground is far superior than oem, back shifting is spot on. Jumping from 2' powder to hardpack trail and back, not one time did i feel a performace loss. I would highly recommend this clutch, gear tuning to anyone with a 700 SX. Thanks Turk for all of your hard work, it makes the rest of us look so much better on trail. Al
 
Check out " Turks, clutching recomendation on the TY site. basically a rivit change in the arms, gear change, drop one tooth, and a helix change. I already had my head milled .020 so I kept the OEM head gasket intact. I also kept the stock jetting due to the very low temps we somtimes run ie; -15 to -20f. The recommendation calls for stock clutch springs, i did replace mine with new due to age. I am very satified. Al
 
he has several listed there. can you be more specific as to which one you used? i have a 51/43 helix on the way. and i have new stock springs in the garage.
 
Oh I forgot to tell ya, stock pipes and muffler. I will not use any aftermarket pipe or cans anymore. Too loud and unrealiable in my opinion. I ran 103 on GPS on a long run down a road, that was plenty fast enough for me. I don't feel like i need any more power.
 
103 is plenty fast enough on the trail. mine has CPR pipes. they were on there when i bought it. your set up wont work for me. glad it works for you. :2strokes:

What track do you have? I lost a bunch of top end when I put on the 1.25 ripsaw, but gained everywhere else. Next move is a new gear and trans rods (just for play). Can't believe how far off the stock setup is...
 
swmichsx You will notice a HUGE difference in power application if you step down one tooth from stock, the power will be right there every time all the time. I am running a 1.95 ratio w-20/39 gearing and I haven't been this happy with my sled since I bought it. If you go this route you clutching will seem to stiffen up(be firmer) as the gear will be doing alot of the work now instead of trying to force the clutch and belt to pick up the slack because of being over geared. T
 
I got my clutching from turk also. I then added reed spacers, carbon tech reeds, single layer removed from gasket, did the gear. Hit 109 GPS.
 
I am ashamed to say but, I am running an Arctic cat Camoplast .875 track. Just installed this year, with 144 1.125 studs. My oem track was well used and abused, found this one new on ebay for $200.
Drop down one tooth on top gear, 20 tooth. Stock chain works fine. 70 link.

That track will be fast on that sled! That's alot of studs for an sx though. The stock gear is 22, so drop one would be a 21, and a 20 tooth is dropping two.
 
I will have to double check on which gear i used, I thought it was a 20 but maybe it was a 21, I know if you go to low you have to use a 68 link chain. I did cover up the Arctic logo on the track intetionally with one of the backing plates. My sled already had heat exchanger protector installed, my wifes 600 did not. This is a must if using studs in my opinion. I alumabrazed my own gaurds onto her front heat exchanger.

One of the first things I did to my sled was yank the stock track and install a .875 Cat track. I think it came off a ZL700. A friend off mine brought it back from Alberta. It was new/take off track from a dealer. I loved that track , it's pattern reminded me more of a motocross tire with more individual knobs instead of the standard straight bar lugs. It was much thinner and faster than stock. I put over 14,000 Km's on that track and had no ill effects from the Cat label. :)
