how does a 05 mountain viper compare to a 01 srx for weight, power, handling etc. and how well do they perform in deep snow, as in are they easy to throw around etc. i found a 05 mtn viper with 1900 miles listed for 4950

2 totally different sleds ...like comparing a vette to a 4X4 1/2 ton. Not in the same class for anything. Viper mountain does well in deep snow for 117 hp.

But if you triple pipe that viper, it would be like comparing the corvette (SRX) to a twin turboed, propane injected duramax diesel with a chip!

Happy riding

well im wondering more weight wise like are the vipers a tank like the srx and how do they handle in the deep stuff

Viper Mountain

If you ride off trail -- buy the Viper Mountain -- you won't regret it. First, try chiseling the seller down a little -- $4900 seems a few hundred too high to me. Then install SLP triple pipes and after market clutching. The machine is simply one of the greatest joys to ride........

you gotta remember too im in canada so sleds are a little more up here like an 01 srx sells for in the 4000 range

It's probably on the heavier side, but it handles very well and it has loads of power (and can be made more powerful fairly easily...)

let us know if you make the purchase -- and include some pics!

im a little sketchy about buyin used after the nightmare the srx has been is there anything i should be looking for on a viper like it only has 1900 miles but still

Mnt. Vipers weigh 517lbs. dry.

I think they are pretty nimble feeling in the powder. Waaay different than my cousin's 98 Mnt. SRX. Of course, Viper has narrower ski stance, higher handle bars. My cousin has swapped his front end out to get to 38.6" ski stance like mnt. Viper's have, still my Viper is quite a bit more nimble feeling.
