Let buddy ride snowmobile and he had an accident. Rolled sled on its side and broke my windshield, cowl and put a small 1 1/2" crack in the corner off the hood, straight up from the hold down strap. Ive seen these hoods crack in this spot before, so was wondering if anyone had a good method of fixing it. If I got some good glue in the crack and was able to get it all lined back up and then something has to be put on the back to strengthen it. I just don't want it to look like poo like most fix jobs I've seen. Also if anyone has a cowl for a 97 sx theyd like to sell me lemme know.
Thanks,
Nick

try superglueing the crack together and them on the back side lay a thick layer of two part epoxy over the whole area. worked good for me on a similar problem i had with a hood. lasted three years now and cant even tell it was cracked off.

Make sure to take a tiny drill bit and drill a hole at the end of the crack, to prevent it from spreading further.

Make sure you rough up the inside with sand paper-I use 80 grit. Give the epoxy some thing to bite into. I would advise on using a plastic adhesive and reinforce the inner with the mesh dry wall tape.97srxXT said:Let buddy ride snowmobile and he had an accident. And make sure you kick your buddys @ss...
Is it on the curve as the hood starts leveling out? Yamaha or someone produced a reflector that rivet/glued onto the curve section of the hood above the strap to re-enforce it, it may work here to hide/strengthen the area. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/accessories/acscitemdetail/5/170/342/2265/all/1/2250/0/detail.aspx Not sure if these are still available
Sweet that thing is exactly where it broke. Ill see if I can get one of these.

That part is actually aluminum, not plastic.....You may be able to get a local sign company to give you a couple pieces of reflective scraps in the color you want, or you don't really need the reflecive.....
