i have an 80 440 srx and i have went through the carbs completely and still will not run right at all. when i hit the throttle all it does is back fire and stall out. motor has 110 psi in the cylinders. that was a dry test. not to mention it smokes alot too. choke plungers are not sticking i have checked those already too.

Hey tom, a good 80 SRX should have 140 PSI dry compression stock, is it just one cylinder running bad? what do the plugs look like after running a while???? can you get a close up pic of them? you could always swap carbs from one side to the other to see if the problem follows that cylinder or carb.........

it almost sounds like you need some new gaskets. If it is smoking alot and has low compression, it might be something to look into.
