Have a pair of trods to install... but cant seem to get the top idler wheel off. Any suggestions, besides a BFH? Thought about a wheel/gear puller, i.e. arms that go behind, and bolt on center to draw it off. Would like to save the wheels/bearings. Can this be done on the machine, w/o pulling whole skid?

What I do is take the C-clip (Snap ring) off the back of one of the wheels and this will get the outter idler wheel off. leaving just the bearing on the shaft. Just work the wheel back and forth by hand it should come of the bearing pretty easy. Then I use a wheel puller to pull the bearing off. The bearing can be on there sometimes pretty tight. If the bearing doesn't pop, I do one of two things snug the puller up nice and tight and hit the end of the puller nice and hard with a dead blow hammer or add a little heat from a butane torch, while tighening on the puller.
