Friend of mine's sled. It doesn't seem to hold its prime. Have to put gas down the cylinders to get it to start, even after sitting only one day. Any common issues on these that cause something like this?

I was hoping you would see this post since you seem to know quite a bit about these sleds. It has another problem too. It is real doggy off the bottom end, and pops and backfires just off idle. Carbs have been cleaned, even tried jetting down the pilots. I just read your other post about the oil pumps on these, really wondering now if that's the issue with the poor bottom end performance. Called and asked friend if it went through lots of oil, he said now that he thought about it it did seem to use quite a bit. His wife has a new sled now so this one hasn't been rode this year, but his dad is interested in buying it if he can get these issues cleared up.
Thought I'd throw the losing prime question out there, in case these had a common issue there.
