Hi all!
First time poster, looks like to be a long time reader!!! (Nice Site)
I have a 89 Phazer 480. I was wondering if I can do anything with my stock muffler. I have a tourch and a mig welder... If I were to cut it open and hollow it out would I get better performance/sound? I was told the motor is bored over to the max... I think it has siezed up a few times for the previous owner...
The sled runs good, just wondering if there are any cheap junk yard mods I can do...
Thank!!!

I would just leave it and ride. It sounds like it has been through enough.

I put a PSI pipe on my phazer. It made a big difference in the mid range and top end. You have to do a carb mod if you pipe these motors thoe. Its not hard but you need the rite size drill bit.

I have an 88 Phazer 485cc. I think you should just ride it the way that it is. Dont fix whats not broke. They are G8t sleds the way that they are. Have fun.

The mod is to help with the midrang you have to pull the steel plug out of the top of the carb and drill the hole out bigger. That is also were a lot of people have problems with the midrang, Gunk bulds up in there and you cant get it out with out removing that plug. I will try to find the sheets for the mod this weekend and get it on here.
Yamaha also still makes the correct midrange nozzle that you don't have to drill. I know there is a tsb with the part number, but I can't find it right now.
