suspension fix/replacement help

My question is this. To fix my proaction w Arm welds I am being quoted $70-100 dollars. The other bushing and shafts I have ordered are an addition $60 dollars. Am I doing the right thing to fix this suspension or should I be looking to replace it with something better? Any suggestions? This is in a 2001 SXR. Is there a better front arm for this?
 
i am a welder and work in a fab shop. that seems a lil steep for maybe an hours worth of work..
 
skidoo replacement

I have read multiple articles on here regarding changing the skid to a Polaris edge or Skidoo skid. I looked on ebay for Skidoo skids. I am now completly confused as to what Skidoo skid would be the best to buy. Can you use one out of a Rev or does it have to be something else. Please help.
 
Fix it then find a different skid to install next summer. gotta ride while the riding is good right. Just curious how do you have the Pro-Action set up. Have you tuned to your weight? I beat the Hell out of my SRX and I never bent or broke the W arm. I did snap a front lower shock mount bolt where it attached to the rail which cause the entire thing to come fail. Then I put in Expert X.

If you buy a doo skid get a 2002 mxz one or a style that does not sit to high in the front end and it will bolt in nice.Just get rid of the yellow wheels and than nobody will no the differance.

Obviously the 2002 skid doesnt just bolt into the tunnel. What does it require to do this swap. A engineering degree?
 
Been to four shops and everyone has quoted 70-100 to redo welds an add in some gusset plates I made up from suggustions on this site. My concern is that this will be a short term fix as it really does not fix the problem of the suspension bottoming out on the bumb stops and putting great stress on the joints in a downward angle.

I found a Yamaha parts supplier out of Florida that will sell a new one for $93 plus $7 for shipping. Looks like a possible way to go to get through this season. There are many Ski doo skids available on Ebay for cheap money. Shipping however is a killer. I was just wondering if it makes sense to go with a new SC10-3 from a late model Rev or stay with the older units. This is going to go into a 2001 SXR with long travel.

Everyone is right about how short the season is but I really want to do this right the first time.

What I see is that softer sprung venture models dont have the w arm cracking issues. Perhaps you have too much tension on the spring?

I would think a sc10 2 would be a better choice as the sc103 was redesigned for use on a rider forward sled (rev). different sc10's (1, 2, 3) have different set ups. some are rising rate, others are falling rate.....
