I have a 2001 Yamaha v-max 700 tripple. Almost every time i start it it backfires. Any ideas on how to stop the backfiring? Thanks

For giggles try lowering it then. Is it every time? Or only when its cold or hot. Cold backfires I have found to be lean pilots. A high idle usually creates hot ones and it also makes them a little harder to start.

Like the others said plugs and caps will cause backfires but usually the sleds performance also suffers.

my buddy has the same sled and as soon as he started it it start back firing
he had spark plugs BR9ES and he changed to BR9ESYA and it runs perfect now

My SX600R will backfire on a hot engine start up if I do not let it idle for a few seconds before shutting it off. Has been this way since new in '02.
