I'm changing the bearings in the drive line of my SRX and wanted to check on opinions with you guys as to whether you remove the outside seal of the lower chain case bearing as the original is or do you leave it in?I understand the reasoning behind leaving the inside seal on,so that any metal filings from the chain or gears in the fluid don't get into the bearing and wear it out,but there isn't really any advantage to taking off the outside one is there? It's protected by the shaft seal from any outside contaminants but any extra protection you could offer the bearing should be better right?
