Has anyone tried putting a Viper oil resevoir on a 97 SX 700?
Also, my low oil light came on around 145 miles into a trip. Is this normal consumption?

you want to burn around 1 to 1 1/4 qt's in 12 gals(full tank) your oil tank
is 2.5 qt's.
so say your getting 11 mpg?? x12 gal's=132 miles you could go, so you'd be using 1 to 1 1/4 qt's in that 132 miles..(48ish:1)
your oil pump is to rich you need to re-adjust..

i have used one, the coul needs to be cut a little inside, no biggy but your 97 sled needs a 99 and newer gas tank on it to accept the larger stlye tanks either viper or srx/vmax.
I'm dizzy! LOL. I really need to know how much oil is left when the low oil light comes on, right? It was dark and I tried to see how much was left in the oil tank, but I couldn't see it. I just added oil. I'm not smoking excessively and it smells and runs fine. 2.5 quarts seems small, no?daman said:

there's probably 1/2 qt left when light comes on,in that area...
