I just bought a 01 Moutain Max 700 and it is leaking coolant down by the water pump. It appears to be coming from the lower bolt on the side where the coolant hose attaches. I expect the water pump cover O-ring is the cause? Has anyone run into to this problem before? Could it be something other than the O-ring? I know I'm probably going to have to just tear into it to find out, but I would like to get some parts ordered before I do to try and reduce the down time. Any advice would be helpful.

is it leaking from the weep hole or the pump cover?... a leak at the weep hole requires more careful attention and more work... lots written and many opinions about the root cause... do a search and you'll find lots of info... tj..

How can I tell if it is leaking from the weep hole. I'm not sure where it is located. I tried looking underneath with a mirror but I can't seem to find it. The bottom bolt looks like its wet with coolant.

if I remember correctly, it's further back, under the water pump, on the lower case... it would be a couple of inches behind the cover plate machined surface... it could be leaking from the weep hole and making the bottom cover bolt appear wet... tj
