hello..thanks,,,,96 vmax 600...was riding fine for about 2 hours...ran great...parked the sled...and went back out bout one hour later..and now whenever i give it throttle, the tors light comes on, and the engine bogs down..what is TORS? and what would cause this? its big snowstorm going on right now..thanks, Pete
is it the water temp light? not sure if there is a tors light
check the Trottle overide switch on the carbs or the throttle lever. One or the other is stuck or the cable is too tight.

The throttle play is off play with the throttle and see if it moves a lot.
There are two wires on the carbs that you can jump to bypass tors, however it is a good feature to have so you will want to adjust the throttle to fix the problem.

So what exactly is TORS and what does it do?

Essentialy its a dead man switch the objective is to kill or slow down the engine when the throttle is stuck or if you were to fall off.

It lowers the RPM of the engine below engagement in the event the cable freezes, or something hangs up in the carb rack. A small switch in the pivot of the flipper and a switch on the carb. TORS stands for 'Throttle OverRide System'. There is more info about setting the throttle cable and testing the TORS system in the 'Tech FAQ Index' link in my sig.

Thanks for the help. I am going to check that also just to make sure.

I've seen 5 early 90's vmax and all of them had the TORS bypassed. Mine included. you can adjust and adjust things on those and in rare cases fix it. But like brain said it's better to have it working. I just ran out of options and said the heck with it, my 80 exciter 440 don't have it and it runs great! LOL

another thing that makes that light go on is if the throttle is not pivoting right not lubed or ice in slot the pivot point on back side of throttle should move back and forth away from throttlestop/mount freely!
