I have heard of many people cutting down there heads on there srx .030 for more compression and power. I am wondering how much more compression would that add to my motor if I am a 130. Also if I cut my heads this much would I have to run with premium fuel. Thanks

The squish is allready very tight on the 00-02 700 SRX. You can cut 10-15 thou on the 98-99 but for trail riding you will detonate unless you run 100 octane cutting off 30 thou.

don't do it if you buy gas from different places.Did the heads on my srx & twice I blew up due to bad gas, never had that problem until I cut my heads.get a second set if you want to for racing & a stock set for trail.......my02 cent
if you take .030 off the surface its best to take .020 out of the squish

anywhere upto 160 psi you should be safe with 91-93 octane

also depends on the angle of the compression band and squish band. i think where you see people cutting that much off stock head on a stock motor is when they lift the cylinders with base gaskets to raise the ports.
