carb heat?

I know i know, this is a newbie question but i was reading a post below about snow filters, and as i was reading i saw this guy talking about carb heat. I have an 02 Viper, and i was wondering if i have the same?

Does any outfit sell such a thing? I thought I saw someone had these awhile back. I keep forgetting to check it out. Every time I ride in the UP or Northern Wisconsin (sugar or lake effect snow) I end up getting that snow dust around my carbs and it starts to babble on low end. I can quickly remedy it by turning on the carb heat bypass valve......but I actually get worse gas mileage if I run the coolant through the carbs all the time. Naturally the snow dust comes from the guy riding in front of you, but I rarely lead when I trail ride up there.

Carb heat

Yes, your 02 Viper has carb heaters. Look at the left side of the engine on the cyl. head by the clutch, you'll see the "on / off" knob and a short piece of hose going to the carbs. Yamaha recommends that you turn them on at 32*F and lower temps. Many people disagree with them, do a search and do some reading up on it for your self. -Ed
