I am new to this site and have a couple questions regarding my suspension on my 2004 Viper 700S. I have read things that say sleds have extras added on like Long travel rear suspension and I was curious to know what that is? For I notice when I get off my sled the suspension sags as to where I can pick up the back of sled up like 2 inches and that seems how the rear suspension should normally sit. I also have a problem with a coolant leak and was wondering if there have been known problems for it seems like it is right where the coolant is and there is coolant on my right footwell when I noticed this. Thanks for any information you guys can give. - Chris
- The Viper is long travel
- The Viper S has non-rebuildable shocks stock - You can upgrade to Ohlins or Works for a somewhat better ride
- The rear skid will sag a little under it's own weight - but more importantly the gap at the control rods should be 50/50 or 60/40 with you on the sled in full riding gear - The skid may need to be adjusted for your weight
- The coolant is likely from overfilling the tank - Clean up the spill and watch the level - if it continues you may have a leak

Thanks , yeah I don't think i overfilled the coolant tank for I filled it to the level that it is was suppose to be at. I am looking at it tonight.
- Also do you know about over revving issues I have read about this and am not sure how to correct it. They say that I would gain more speed if I fixed this. The reason why i am asking this is I used to have a sxr700 but I just got this viper700s in the fall and don't know much about them yet.

If you are overrevving a bit throw more weight at it. If you are overrevving a lot, you may have problems. Lots of good info on here.
Spend some time with the Search Feature, and in the Tech Pages. It should prove well worth your time.

I had a head gasket problem on my Viper. Coolant would blow past the cap under hard throttle. Idle no problem. I re torqued the head to 30 ft pounds and no more problem. If your head was recently off its something to check.

Hey Justaviper....thanks for the response....My warning light started coming on this weekend and I didn't know what for then I checked my coolant and it was low so I filled it. Warning light came on again after some time and it was when I was going like 70mph then would go off when I let off the throttle and went back down to like 10mph. I am going to look at it tonight. There is coolant on my footwell I noticed so maybe a hose went or something....
