if you never get cold then you havnt been riding in cold enough weather.i wouldnt worry about the sled .they are called SNOWMOBILES.when it's in the negitives plus wind chill blowing snowdust everywhere following another sled.thats when it's to cold unless you want serious frost bite on the neck & face..been there done it.never again.........so in the end when you cant enjoy the ride..thats when it's to cold
I would imagine the sled will go in colder temps then you(maybe
). Just be sure on the jetting for the temps you will be riding in. The colder the temps, the leaner the sled will be running, so you may have to richen the jets.

We rode in -32 degrees one day and -29 the next, and -30 the next. How bad do you want to ride. LOL Maxdlx

When a heated visor keeps frosting up and you dont dare go over 50 mph you no its cold.
A old guy up north told us to wipe vineger on our shields to help..............well it did for a while but gives you a craveing for french fries 2.

Riding in -45F the sled does fine (be sure it is jetted for it). I on the other hand, freeze and get frostbite at that temp. One word - Layer

-55 degrees F last year breaking trail for the Yukon Quest race on a 03 Mountain Viper. Added extra tall windshield, guantlets. Motocross style helmet with Scott I.P. (nose piece included) goggles. Just can't have any exposed skin.

The sled gets snappier when the temps drop
...-21 without adding in chill was enough for me!

I rode into Yellow Stone park in 2000 in February. Fired up the sled at 35 below, pulled on the handle till I nearly died. Rode in at 40 mph at minus 25 degrees, that is too cold to have fun IMO. Any bare skin is frost bit. My friends Arctic Cat piece of S*** lost a radiator hose, Towed him back to West Yellow Stone (30 miles) and had to pull engine to re-attach hose. But by then it was only -10. How cold is too cold?. I will not even unload till it is 0 anymore, I'm getting older and smarter than I used to be.
PS
My sled still does not care how cold it is, except when pulling on the cord, it gets older but no wiser.

-5 by the weekend. I'll be out all weekend for sure. Very rare we see -5 in january. Usually -20 to -30 the whole month. The strails are going to be buisy for sure.

i have started my srx when the first pull went chug, chug, chug and slowly each additional pull got better. thats when it's cold and you can barely pull the eng over.

I went riding when it was -32C. I have a Yamaha jacket and Klim bib's, I was standing up going 65MPH in fresh snow thinking, this is f***in' sweet! Man 1 Nature 0.

All these stories of cold remind me of the one and only time I rode below -5. Big storm here last year (blizzard, -30 below 0). Went out to ride with some buddies, and buried my sled in a swamp (thought I was crossing a field). I had never had my hands freeze before that point. I'll tell ya I'll never do it again.

When I used to leave my sled outside all night and then go to start next day it was really a bast*ard to pull over. All I did then was grab my Halegon lamp and let it hang over the motor for about 20 minutes, careful you don't aim it at some plastic anywhere. Then sled would pull over really easy..no struggle.

But now you can buy in line water heaters for sleds.Splice coolant line..fit he heater unit into each end of line.Plug in like a car.It warms the coolant which in turn keep the heads warm and bingo it is easy to pull over and will start quicker in the cold. You can put it on a remote receptacle unit and push button from inside the house to turn on the power to the unit ahead of time before you go out and ride.

That is my breaking point as well.
A coworker who happens to also ave the same xc I have is having his guys weekend this weekend at his place in Eagle River. he asked me if there is anything to watch out for regarding the sleds. I asked him how modded the sleds were and he said 100% stock, even jetting. I then told him to bundle up, and try to keep the face shields clear, and that will be the issue, not any sled issue....

Give me a 25" windshield, full face helmet, HOT handwarmers like my SRX had and I'll ride at -20.
