i am wondering what people have been running for carb setups for a stock piped viper at 5-7000 feet. i have a major bog coming off idle and im kinda up in the air on how to fix it.....seems like a lean bog....from idle if i just mash the throttle, it will just die....if i feather the throttle up to about 2500 rpm just under engagement and mash it its fine....runs great on the midrange and top end......so heres what ive got and what ive done....book calls for 148.8's, 50's and 2.5 on the clip at 2 turns ( ithink) on the fuel screws. i started at 145's 52.5's and clip in #2 with one shim under, at 2 on the fuel screw.....then went to 55 pilots at 2 turns.....no go.....so im thinking of just jumping to 60's and see what happens.....or raise the needle abit......but it runs nice and crisp on the midrange so id hate to lose that.....what you all think?

Are you sure its a lean bog? Does the idle hang for a bit before coming back down to 1600rpm? I have triples on mine, run at same elevation, stock pilots and screw at 2 turns, needles at 3.0. Mine runs rich, according to plug checks, at 0-1/4 throttle. As you climb in elevation less air, fuel stays the same, = runs richer. I'm wondering if you have a rich bog? What do your plugs look like after a steady low speed run?

im not sure its a lean bog...not sure of anything at this point...but according to the chart and other jetting info as you raise in elevation, you have less air pressure which is what controls your fuel flow on the pilots...therefore the higher you are the more fuel you need on the pilot circut......chart calls for 45 pilots at sea level and 55's at 10000ft....i originally had this sled set up for 600-1000 ft. and was running 50 pilots and it was dialed in perfect.....so that being said i dont think that 50 pilots will be rich enough for my current elevation and thus my lean bog.....another thing is it doesnt gurgle and such when coming off the low end which is another reason i think its lean.....am going riding tomarow and gonna try cracking the choke before a holeshot to see if i can help it any....
