exhaust temp


9000°F? Sounds a little bit high to me...

I think somewhere in the ~1300°F area is when you need to start worrying about engine damage. This number can vary between engines, so Im not sure what temperature you should look for with your specific application.
 
im with wilson , 1250 max ...not for sure but would think for trail sled 1200-1225 would be safe max ..also depends how far the probe is down the pipe away from cyl.

Temp depends on how far away from the piston skirt you are. At 10" away you can run at 1400f all day long. At 6" away 1200f max. I would say probes 8"-9" away @ 1250f. Then take A plug reading to see whats up, and go from there. Let your plugs tell you what temp to run. m2c
