over rev

It's surprising the amount of power that is lost by the over-rev...PLUS the increase of fuel milage...

I finally got off my but and fixed my over-rev by changing the tip weights...noticed more pull through the trails....plus gas milage went from 11 mpg to 15...gatta love that. ;)!

That was with the stock track with 144 studs, edge suspension and me @250#.... I just installed a 1 1/4 clipped every window ripsaw track..so i'll see what difference that makes. :dunno:

So how do you really know if your sled is over revving too much. I just got an 04 ViperS and I am thinking this is happening with mine. What is the top speed for my sled do you guys think.

how you know is...

On a stock sled(sxr, srx, viper,vm triple) anything over 8500 to 8600 WOT and your over rev'en,,loosing HP...they all had a bad over rev from the factory.

I just graduated College and just got this 04 viper700S and the guy before me had put triple Aeen pipes on mine. How do you change the over-revving issue?

I have a 02 700 sxviper and it also overrevs. The technician said he added "2 grams " to it. It still over revs. Is there anything else that may cause this like maybe dirty secondary or wore belt?

^^yes a worn out belt will result in higher rpm's,,you need to find out
where your clutching is at(specs) so we can help more...

what rpms are you running. i found on the stock tach, that 9100 is the sweet spot. you can run the aaens anywhere from 9000-9200.

Before he added weights it ran as high as 10,000 rpm. I bought this used and didnt pay any attention to the tack, was watching speedo. After I noticed how high it was revving , I watch the tack now. Now I wont let it go over maybe 8500. My mechanic today also told me 9200 was redline. I cant try it out now cause my kid smashed it. But when I get it fixed I am going to stretch it out and see how high it will rev. I dont know anything about the specs on the clutches but maybe my tech can tell me when I take it in again. He told me he will put more weights on it. I really think this sled is totally stock, front to back, but my tech is telling me from all the weights he has to put on, it has more than stock horsepower. I dont know for sure.
