I am finally done restoring my 80 Srx. Now its time to get it running good. I switched from the butterfly carbs to 38 Mikuni slides from a 500 Indy. I thought the jetting should be pretty close (280 mains and 40 pilots). The needles and seats are new and the carbs have be cleaned spotless. I got it running but it runs pretty bad. It runs for a couple minutes then stalls out and wont start until you leave it sit for while. Is there a center crank seal that could be bad on the SRX ????
i was doing the same thing but i was using carbs from a kawasaki intruder. come to find out the cutaway on the roundslide was way too much. finally switched to carbs from a 79 srx. worked great. jon has a pair of carbs on ebay right now for a 78-79 srx. he is a member here....

my manual shows 340 mains with an 80 powerjet on the 78-79 carbs

Hey, Thanks for the info Big Kid. I am cleaning up the old butterfly's as we speak am I'm going to make sure this machine runs good with the stock set up before I get into the slide carbs. I wonder if flat slides off a 95 600 Vmax would fit??????????? Later
