I'm Working On A Buddys Vmax 600 And He Lost The Piston On The Mag Side, Took It Apart And The Only Mark Is On The Exhaust Port, No Scuffs, No Seizure Marks, Just A Spot On The Egde Of The Exhaust Port, Where It Lost The Edge. My Question Is, Should I Let This Go Or Send Out The Cylinder?

For $225 or so for a cylinder and another $125 for a set of pistons I would replace it all. Better than breaking out on the trail with just the piston/ring replacement.

I did the same thing but drove it another 20 miles after the failure last year near Newberry, MI. It's nice that it would run on one cylinder quite well. My damage was a bit worse though. See http://www.mykeeshond.com/snowmobile/rebuild_pics.htm for more info. There are replater's that can fix it and you should have time to send it out if you want to keep your cylinder.

I had the same decision last year. Mine did not blow, it just didn't meet my specs.
Total cost was $960 to rebuild, all Yamaha parts. $470 of that was to re-nicasil both cylinders. So I could have got away with a cheaper rebuild but I wanted to spend the extra knowing I would end up with a better engine.
Try to get a better pic or take the cylinder somewhere to get checked. Not fixing it properly will just cost you more in the long run.
Yah i know.......I don't have one of those money trees either.

if its on the top... just raise the top of the ex if its only a mm....
same thing if its on the side.. just widen it a bit if its only a little ..
do both sides then champher,, then match the other cyl..
alot cheaper and a tad more power
