Hi there, I have a new to me 2006 Viper MTN with from what I can tell stock settings!!! Green spring in 2nd, G-W-G in Primary etc... Needles in 3rd postion with spacers on the bottom, the 8dn10 weights have the first hole filled with an aluminum rivet and a steel in the outer!
My problem is the machine is revving 9000 rpm when you hit it and will climb above 10,000 if I let it! Half throttle is about 8500 RPM.
Are these things clutched from factory to run 10,000 feet altitiude??? And jetted to run in -25C temps???
Your help is much appreciated

the tech section says 8dn-10's, w/nothing in 1st hole and 13.3 rivet in tip, 15mm rollers, g/w/g spring, green secondary spring @ 70deg, 45deg helix, and 21/40 gearing. hope this helps. it shouldn't run more than approx 8500 rpm.
now that i think of this, are these specs for sea level?

Turf the g-w-g primary spring...way too high preload.
try y-w-y(srx primary spring) & load the weights to the nutz with 4.5 in each hole. Then you can grind down the rivets if you need to raise rpm,s. Piece of cake.

ok, more on the clutching issue! Found out that the weights had the 4.5's in already (my mistake) and noticed that they are hanging up on the rollers. Rollers turn freely and not much if any freeplay in them. So going to a new set of 8DN10's with 4.5 in each hole and will try the y-w-y spring to see what that is like! Hopefully this will sove the problem
Turk - any insight into the hanging up thing? This has gotta be the source of my problem???
