So I ordered a new stator said I was the onl one in the USA w/ one on order would be march before I recieved it! so ebayed one , installed it same crap no start monkeyed around a little with wires & CDI , got spark , sled starts, kil it try to restart nothing no spark! TAP the CDI (easily) fires right up? Any help would be great! by tapping on the CDI could that be an internal cdi problem ? aso the sled ran perfect untill I shut it off after riding it & then I had this spark no spark issue! Thanks

Could be the CDI then. Are there any loose wires or conenctions on it?
I am glad I did not chime in before and say that the stator was in fact the problem....

Not usually, but they can.
KY, know anyone with your sled?
You could try swapping parts.
I would also go over all the wiring checking for any rubbed insulation.
Tapping the CDI could have been a coincendence. It sounds like an intermittented problem and the CDI is solid state. I would figure once it went, it's gone. CPR isn't bringing it back
Now that I think about it horkn may be on to something. Check the plug connections to the CDI for loose prongs or corrosion first, maybe it's something simple.
Good luck, electrical gremlins are a bugger.

Remove the rubber gasket on the back side of the plug going into the CDI. Check for any green stuff in there. Green is bad in a electrical connector. If it is green inside there you will want to get the terminals out of the connector and get new ones. If you can't get new terminals then carefully remove the wire from the terminal and cut it back 1/2 inch or so and then solder the wire back on the terminal (clean the terminal real good first) Install all the terminals back into the connector and then aplly lots of grease into the back of the connector. This will help keep the moisture out.
