Nice day for a ride..-5C .When around one of the parks in the area and decided to look for some deeper snow along the treeline following the River. This is not down in the River, but on top of the River bank and along fields.I hit some pretty nasty drifts along the way and cut into a clearing with the SRX and all of a sudden I realized the snow was getting kinda deep for the SRX.I was starting to hit about 2-2.5 feet deep snow and that SRX started to slow down.I said to myself that there is no way I am going to get stuck here.I started to pin it and I had to make a large friggen turn to get out of this stuff.Next thing I know snow is just flying up on the hood and on me and it didn't sound good either.Motor was just reving and sled was slowing down. When I finally got out of that area and back to a flat field,I stopped to wipe all the snow off.Started to go again and then realized the motor didn't want to open up when I pinned it.Was getting a weird sound.Kept going and on a straight away wanted to open it up and she just wouldn't pull, staying around 7000 rpm.I am thinking snow got into the engine compartment and did something.Half way home I opened the hood and took a look.It was wet in there ..and then I noticed the one of the air box boots to carb #1 backed right off the carb, but sits against it.So I figure extra air may be sucking in so I drove home 25 mph.Snapped the boot back on,tightened it and went for a boot again.Everthing is working fine again.I checked the plug and it was ok,not showing signs of a lean burn.Good thing I didn't keep pinning it and forcing it to go fast, otherwise could of blown the piston on that side.Weird that this should happen, just 1 boot jumped off.
Got to stay out of the deep stff with the SRX next time, but didn't realize how deep it was until it was to late.Stranger things have happened to people.

At least I didn't have to walk home about 5 miles.Today was a strange day,no other sledders around anywhere, and it was a warm day to.

My sled did something like that once when I went to leave in the morning, it just didd'nt want to go and it also would'nt quit flashing the diagnostic light on the dash.So I shut it down and opened the hood and one of the outer carb boots was off.I put it back on and it was back to normal.I sure was glad it did'nt let me go and then go lean and blow up.I never force my sled either if it hesitates theres a reason, sometimes its something as simple as not being warmed up enough.Hey, have you been happy with those simmons skis?I just put some on mine and am still dialing them in they sure do bite and I like the increased stability.

yep..actually can't complain on them Simmon's Ski's.Really bite good and can turn on a dime. They also float on top of the snow better then the USI ski's I have on my 600.

Good deal I also noticed increased flotation over other skis I've tried, they also side hill much better than any single runner skis I've ran.

never really noticed if the light came on,just wanted out of there. This season light has been good to me.Only came on I'd say like 2 times since start of season.

after yesturdays episode, all is ok today.Changed primary to y-g-y,engages around 3500 and put green in at 70.I have no more idle down issues now also.Checked and adjusted power valves. They are pretty damn clean using Amsoil Intercepter I have to say.Sled really pulls good.Using this primary spring to stop some over reving out of the hole.Seems to work better. My hesitation is gone and when it hits 8200,does the sled ever pull wild from there up. I really have to hang on because she pulls crazy wild now....wicked.Goes from 0-100 very quick. No place this year to even try out to see what top speed will be.Nothing is smooth anywhere enough for me to keep it pinned for a while,it is to dangerous. That's fine, all I know is I like the way she pulls now.The skis pull off the snow without a problem, just enough lift, but not to much.Even if I am running at about 50 mph, punch it and the ski's lift a tad and sled just bolts. It was only -5C today and SRX performed flawlessly. Can't wait by end of week till it gets a little cooler.
