stator testing?

How do you test stator with meter and what should it read. Might read good when cold and when warm test bad. New one is 250.00 and want to be sure. Is used ok or just get new and be done with it? Thanks.

Can't help you with how to test one, maybe try search. Shop around a little as far as the price, I got mine for $185 new at the local dealer. I've been going in there for years so I'm sure he cut me a pretty good deal, but $65 more seems pretty high to me.

You should be able to get a n ew one for no more than 200 bucks new. Get a new one and be done.

Thanks the spec sheet is helpful. it is a 2000 sxr 700 and cheapest at dealer is $218.00 up to $275.00. Rebuilt 150.00 but I want to ride and not wait while sending mine in, but cost is an issue. I don't know what to do? Anybody had one rebuilt? Thanks.

See if these help you out. And it is possible to read good at room temp and bad at operating temp, that makes it really hard to trouble shoot. Pics are from a 2000 redhead manual.

SX7R, I have a used stator from a 2002 SX600R. If it fits your sled you can have it for $100.00 plus shipping. I am sure it works, I swapped mine last year, ended up being a bad wire under the engine.
