Mounting locations?
So what has to be done to anchor the Edge or Skidoo SC10 into the SRX tunnel?

He later did the front end, but IMHO I thought it rode and cornered better with just the rear done. He did have the factory installed Ohlins up front though. That sled was a blast to drive. He had a 1.25' Predator track and set the rear skid up to transfer good and it rode as good as anything I have ridden. As for the REVs. I spent a considerable amount of time on rough trails on a 2006 Gade 800. (brand new too) What the sled allows you to do is stand up easy. I did not think the sled rode or soaked up the junk any better than the SRX I just mentioned at all. In fact the long traveled SRX was better. It just allowed your legs to take up the junk being I found myself standing up every time a big whoop came up.
Really? I own both an SRX and REV chasis and the REV is FAR superior in the bumps. maybe it wasn't set up right or not dialed in for you wieght? I love looking behind me on the REV and seeing my buddies on their vipers and apexs and such getting throttled around while i just fly through the whoops, lol
tdragger, just locate the new holes and put it in, not that hard of a job.
Sno-xr put a cat skid in his Viper many seasons ago. Here's a link to his thread:

Here's the deal. You can spend all kinds of time and money on the SRX and you will most likely be dissapointed. The fact is the srx is a fast smooth trail sled, Its not built to handle rough trails and any attempts to change that will take away from what the sled is. I struggled with it for years, I had a 2001 that was great. The new Yamaha's have addressed the bump issues but it comes at a price. I would look for a used rev preferably a 500ss adrenaline or trail model, you will have good power and a ride that makes bumps become a minor incoveniance not a brutal beating. The srx is an awsome sled and I miss the motor and the handling on smooth trails.
If you can swing it keep both. Don't spend time and money making the SRX into something its not. Good luck and welcome back to the sport.
Thanks Bill D

Well i can say i`m the only yamaha in the group i ride with and the oldest sled at that. Have 5 revs (04-09) and 1 arctic cat(06) and i have no problem leading the pack all day long. Yes if the holes get real deep the revs take them better than my old yammie but i can handle that rather than loose reliability. Get to watch all the guys putting pistons in rings in their revs on a yearly basis and throw a few cranks in there too. I have thought about a 2nd sled but just cant bring myself to buying something that will leave me stranded on the trail.

Get a polaris iq 600!
I bought an 07 poo iq for the wifey. Didn't like the way the vipers rode. So I didn't want to take another chance on yamaha. The iq is the best sled I ever rode period. It soaks everything up and handles like it is on rails. They are reliable as yamaha, just not as fuel efficent. I say it does everything better then the revs, except in the fuel economy department. Wifey rides it all day no compliants :-) I'm thinking about buying another one

My gf`s father has an 07 IQ and i have to admit that sled does ride nice. And for a 600 it has plenty of power for sure. Never been a poo guy but havent found any complaints with that sled when i rode it.

You should try an M-10. I've ridden several Yammis with M10's and was so impressed I'm putting one in my Viper this week. The M-10 improves the ride night and day. Search online and you will not find anyone who regrets an M10 install. Everyone raves about the ride. You will lose some hook-up but itss worth the price.
Of course your sled will not be a Rev since the ergos will not improve, but you get the power of the triple, reliability of a Yammi, and a much, much better ride in the bumps.
Look on ebay or craigslist for M-10's. I bought mine for $300 and will spend $200 reconditioning it and rebuiding the shocks. If I can sell my skid for $150 I will have $350 into the deal. Well worth it.

So any other riders with IQ skids installed? The IQ has 14" of travel...is this too much for a 02 Viper?
Thanks....its snowing!!!

i recently put an m10 on my sled, what a difference, if you can afford to look at another sled you can afford to look at a m10. excellent ride.

what kind of measurements did you have to use for the iq install, i am in the process of an install into a sxr 700 with a iq race suspension with walker evans shocks, picked it up for $250 brand new off an 09!!! and sold my old one for 200.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I bought the M10 with fox shocks installed for $600 with the trade of my pro-action stocker. I'm excited to try it out. Is it true that an 8" rear wheel kit will give me the top speed back? How much speed and transfer am I going to lose with this M-10 and can i make some of it back with clutching?
So you solved your issues pretty fast. Don't forget the report on how well it handles.
To answer the IQ question above, it seems like three of us are attempting transplants of IQ skids in to our Yami's. The first brave sole is already complete - http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=51075
here is the second person... http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58414
And my thread...http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58403
So we should compare notes on approaches.
