on a 96 vmax xt with the rear lifted how much slack should be in the track? And what do I do to adjust it?
I think it's on the tech pages here but 1" to 1 1/2" with 20 pounds of force at mid-point. Run as loose as you can without ratcheting....

^^what dnale said but spec is 22lbs..
i use an old meat scale and do 22lbs @ 1 1/2" , track always run's true and
no slide issues. if no scale lift sled and adjust till you have 1-1.5 of free
sag,play with it making sure track is running true.

In a pinch, I've hung two 1 gallon windshield antifreeze jugs off the track clips. Should be around 16.6 lbs. (Water is 8.3 per gallon). I have since stopped using the weight and just run tight enough to stop the racheting.

There are two adjustment bolts at the back of the track. First you need to loosen the rear axle. Then turn the track until you can see the two bolts in the track window. Adjust as per above threads. Run the track between adjustments. Also check the gap from the outside edge of the the rear wheels to the edge of the track. The gap should be the same, if not tighten/loosen each side until they are with the corrected track tension.

Ditto, Loosen until it ratchets under hard acceleration and tighten the bolts 1 turn. Works for me and when the ratcheting returns tighten another turn.
