is my oil cable jacked up?!

so heres my question for you tech heads out there.. i have a 02 viper im burning way to much oil.. i rode 120 miles the other day and went through id say around 3 quarts of oil...the reason i say i think its cause of my oil cable is because the whole thing sometimes like slips out of position and causes my throttle to only be able to gt to 1/2 WOT.. then i have to open th ehood and push it back in.. i hope you understand what i mean.. i think i need to push back that black rubber thing to hold everything in place what do yall think.. thanx for the advice hope im being clear lol
 

as dave said that rubber sleeve needs to be in place to hold it in, i posted in you other thread too by the way..
 
how much fuel did you use (fill to fill) and how much oil did you use with that same fuel (oil fill to oil fill)?..

mixture is an oil:gas ratio... not an oil to miles ratio...

above gives a much more accurate means to calculating your mixture/ consumption.... also, if you zero your odometer at every fill and mark the miles driven on your gas receipt each time, you'll know you gas mileage on every tank too...

this all helps in catching problems early.. my 2 cents.. tj
 
check down at the oil pump to see if something is touching the oil pump lever and not leting it return to idle position.the lever is spring loaded and should keep the cable from seperating even with the black rubber sleeve out of place .also check to see if the cable is not binding in the lower cable housing.

i used about a tank and a 1/4 AT THE MOST.. i need to keep track of my gas reciepts and write down the gallons im gettin like you said so i can keep track of everything and know what im brning as well.. but like i said it was roughly a tank.. and went through roughly 2 1/2 qts maybe alil more cause i started with a gallon and i just filled my tank up with oil.. and i have maybe a 1/2 qt. left over..i also dnt know what the size of the tank is..

Yep as said your cable is not running down your steering post in the right position and is pulling on the cable when turning.If this is not the case i would wrap the boot with some electrical tape and try it.
