I just put a new track in my 98 SRX and after laying the chain and gears on my workbench for a day I couldn't remember which way it went in. I put the raised boss side of the lower gear toward the bearing and it seemed o.k and is working but now I'm second guessing myself and need to know if I have it in there wrong! Thanks, 700

See if you can tell by this exploded view here . Hope this helps. -Ed

PS- the link will get you to the main page, then you will have to select your sled model and year. then select track drive 2 and you will see the exploded view. -Ed

Hey guys, can anyone put my mind at ease on this or do I need to pull my pipes off again and look at my chain? I 've ridden it about 90 miles and all seems fine but I'd hate to have the chain out of alignment and have it go out on the trail someday. I don't even know if you can put it on backwards without rubbing? I wish I had tried it the other way also! This is the original 15 wide 37 tooth gear.
Thanks again, 700

cog goes in on the big gear, towards bearing...

If you pulled both gears, I'd be more worries about what spacer goes where.

If you only removed the big gear, cog IN

Thank you very much!

That's how I have it. I did make sure to keep the right spacer with the right gear and I thought I had the gears in right also but then second guessed myself. I just put in a new 1.6" track since blowing my studded original a couple winters ago and now remember why I love this machine! All that power is just awsome!
Thanks, 700
