Heat tape... I got my pipes ceramic coated black, and Wouldnt ya know it, the hood cable is slowly making its way thru the coating on the Pipe that crosses over the other two (*clutch side) I want to Put a ring of heat tape on the Area where the wear is starting to occur. But its harder to find then i thought.... Advanced auto parts has heat wrap which requires epoxy or Zip ties to hold it on... and autozone just has reflective tape for duct work.... Is there a type of tape that i'm thinking of that can handle the 1100 degree heat of the pipes? or am i dreaming, where is this dream tape?
thanks

I just used the reflective tape for duct work, on my hood to cover the styrofoam when I put my triples on. It's held up very well with the heat. I would imagine it would hold up, but hopefully others will chime in.

Don't know if it'll work for you, but I relocated the spring that attaches to the hood cable so that when the hood is closed, the cable doesn't rest on the pipes. Took some trial and error (peeking under the hood as I was closing it to see where the cable rested). I think I ended up attaching the spring to the hood on the outer side of the black scoop (left/drivers side). With the hood open, the spring is streched a bit further than where it was attached originally, but now the cable get's sucked up to the left side of the hood and isn't resting on the pipes with hood closed.

interesting idea, I'll look more into that, thanks.

I looked last night and indeed I did relocate the hood cable spring to the molded tab on the hood that also holds the harness/speed-o cable which is located outboard of the clutch cooling air scoop. Like I said, it streches the spring a bit further than before and the spring rakes across the scoop when opening the hood but the cable no longer rests on the pipes with the hood closed.

what made you relocate your Spring on the hood? you have coated pipes too? i should of seen this before it started happening, and protected my investment.... Its not thru the coating yet i don't think its anywhere near going all the way thru, but there is definite wear ont he outer most part of the coating where the cable was.

I went through this when I had the pipes Jet-Hot coated on my XCR. Then when I bought the SRX, I was tuned in on the cable and what it was doing to the factory paint on the uncovered parts of the pipes. With the XCR, the ceramic was actually rubbing through the cable and also making a mess of my perdy pipes.
So you were successful in getting the cable off the pipes?
