I just got new clutch weights. I got new rivets also. I have no idea how to get the rivets to stay in the weights.. Anyone help??
put the rivet in the weight...then set it all on an anvil or something...and mushroom the rivets out on the top and bottom using a hammer...if that makes sense

rivets slide into weights and you have to peen over the other side to tighten the rivet in the weight. I use the flat part on a vise behind the jaws of the vise and hold the weight down with the rivet installed from the bottom and use a good size hammer to peen the rivet over.
Ok, I'll get to it tomorrow.. hopefully my fingers don't get in the way, lol!
Does everyone do it this way??

I have the luxury of a hydraulic press. It does a very neat job.

if you have a big enuf vise you can use that like a press also, the rivits arn't that hard to squat.i've seen busted weights and fingers from people using a hammer.

dont sqeeze too much if you have a smaller vise, you might break the vise. i have a 4.5" vise for sale is someone wants one, like new besides the broken jaw.

Wow those rivets are that tough?
I think some off them are aluminum and some are forged steel.....don't hold me on this....but I think I'm right......

The anvil and a proper 32 oz ball peen hammer works good if a press is not available.
I held mine in position with a pair of vise-grips with rubber padding in the jaws. The harder rivets can be peen'd down using the ball end of the hammer and striking the flat end with a much larger hammer. You will need 3 hands or a jig for that though.

Its not that bad....hold the weight with a pliers and lay it flat on the steel pad of the vise (with the rivets in of course) and hit it till it is flat.....just don't score up the top of the weights or the roller parts!!!!!!!!
I think you are making it out to be way harder than it is. Putting them in is easy. Taking them out of the weight, now that is the job I don't enjoy.
I'm still waiting for the damn dealer to get the parts in.. I got the stuff from a fellow TYer a week ago... dealer takes ALOT longer!
