question for turk 1997 sx 700 do i put the needle down a washer thickness and be safe i was out on weekand and it was running rich in the middle i have 142.5 mains

tech section says you can drop the needles safetly 1 washer (1/2 clip position) from the stock 3.0 position (clip in middle groove w/both washers underneath).
