I just recently bought a 2003 viper. Was changed to 136' track and skid from Tracks USA. As far as I know the gearing is stock. Is the gearing different on a long track than a standard 121" ? How much difference it top end bottom end will I loose or gain if the gears are different? Machine has a 1. 3" lug track. Lugs are just kissing the front heat exchanger guards. I sthis somthing to be worried about ? Doesn't seem to be transfering any rubber any where or damageing the lugs.
Unit is pulling right front ski in hard left corners. Just installed 8"dulies. Played with limiter strap in and out. No difference. SHock spring preload is minimal. With weight off front end spring can be rotated easily by hand. Should it have more preload. Would this keep the ski on the ground >/
Sorry about all the questions, this is my first long track and maybe I am expecting too much in the handling dept for fast trail riding.

My boss has a 2003 RX1 am I expecting to much to keep up with him to the 100mph mark ? HAvn't raced him from stop but from rolling 20 mph he stats to go by me @ the 70mph mark and gets 3 lengths by 100.

Thanks Werner?

well it all depends on whether or not the clutching is on. lots of guys will tell you to drop 1 tooth on the top gear in the chaincase for better holeshot but on my brothers 02 viper, we never changed the gearing and his pulls great with turks aggressive trail clutching.

all your suspension settings sound good to me and the rubber transfer is normal. brothers viper, you have to back off the gas coming into a corner for the skis to bite with either him (160lb) or me (240lb) on it.

the rx is a 140hp sled like my war. the viper is around the 120hp mark. i know when i race my brother, in the powder he takes me, on the hardpack i take him.

when i put 136 M10 in years ago I left the gearing stock but added Whals 8T extros instead of the 9T stock drivers - I was running 1.5" camoplast & it was great on the trail - could feel a slight bog in deep powder. Changed to 21/42 gearing with the 151

If you are going to pull a heavier track (longer plus deeper) I would atleast drop 1 tooth on top 21? (stock 22/38
