got a guy interested in a track i got for sale...hes in Ontario, im in MICH....whats the best way you guys have experienced to get it there...UPS? USPS? or dont even bother? whats the procedure on duty fees and extra things of that nature? just wanted to hear a few opinions on the topic...thanks guys

NOT UPS...NO UPS SHIPPMENTS IN CANADA....USPS is the best method of shipping. I ship and buy from the US all the time without problems....UPS kills us on fees here.
USPS will charge the guy 13% sales tax on the declared value of the package.

thanks for the input....yeah the guy interested said USPS was the best bet as well, but they quoted me like almost 80 bucks to ship a track to Ontario.....? this seems ridiculous to me....just my .02

And AUTOMATIC brokerage fees, that equals AUTOMATIC duty charges! I hate UPS and FEDEX to ship cross border. I actually get things quicker shipping USPS too. With USPS you may or may not get charged duty. With UPS/FEDEX, you WILL get charged duty. Ship USPS and label it as warranty replacement. Nobody will believe it's a gift! I just had a warranty replacement part for an automatic cat litter (K, I'm THAT lazy) shipped here. They only ship FEDEX. I didn't have to pay duty because it was a warranty replacement, but I still had to pay the brokerage fees.

UPS only kills the honest people. I get everybody to mark the package as used, with a value of $15. That omits all taxes and brokerage fees upon arrival. Otherwise, we get hosed, and I have never had an issue with a package being lost or damaged, so I'm not concered with only having a $15 insurable value.

My company normally used to ship items out of the US by UPS and yes they can be pricey. Fedex is not even in the ballgame. We now use Sameday Worldwide for smaller shipments. Check it out. $80 for usps is about as good as it gets for a track. Oh and its cheaper to send something to Australia than Canada...........go figure.

Companies like Purlator and Fedex are much more expensive generally because their shipping costs include incoming brokerage fees. Taxes are the only thing that must be paid when the package arrives. Sometimes, they seem like they are more expensive, but are really cheaper.
