I noticed the last time I rode that my SRX will climb to about 104-105 then it drops from 8600 to about 8000-8100 and won't accelerate anymore. I held it on 3 runs for about a mile at a time and when I parked it, I could smell the belt was really hot and steam comin from under the hood. Any ideas whats goin on?

Maybe its time for a new belt?, or improper warmup of the belt @ clutches. Check belt for glazing, (residue buildup).

check clutch faces for rubber belt buildup too. how are you power vavles? my buddy had a power valve pull thru and 105mph is all his '00 srx would do. once valve was fixed, back up to 115-120mph.

Brand new belt about 300 miles ago and I just cleaned the powervalves a hundred miles ago and didn't have any pull thru's.

did you change something w/the clutch setup recently? is the setup stock? how are your carbs? clean? dirty jets/incorrectly adjusted floats can cause this, cause you have enough fuel in the float bowl right away, but after wot for a few seconds, the rpms will drop, cause the fuel is being sucked away, quicker than it comes in. my buddies '05 440zx rev was like this. it turned out to be plugged jets and too lean of jetting. maybe check your carbs.

I cleaned the carbs before this season when I bought it. Jetting is stock, it is clutched but i haven't even looked at what was changed. It worked really well before it started acting up. I was seeing 118 on the dream-meter and it would pull hard. I haven't changed the clutching at all, just put a new belt on.
