Exxon Mobil does it again..


HOUSTON (AP) — Exxon Mobil has shattered a U.S. record with a $45.2 billion annual profit despite a year-end plunge in oil prices.





What ya's think about that.They also own 69% of Imperial Oil here in Canada.I never new that.Talk about profit while we the gas consumers get raked over the coals. GREED running deep or what?
 
what they do to us is just plain ridiculous. I dont understand how we all ended up out to make each others lives a living hell and live them by screwing each other over all the time. We all get raked over the coals with ever damn thing.... and it all just keeps getting worse...

Oil keeps going down and yet in two weeks here gas prices have now risen .20 a gallon.. its still way cheaper then summer time, but for the last 30years .20 a gallon used to be insane, especially in a two week period. Now all the sudden its just expected and excepted.. I'm sick of it!!

Here in Winnipeg,the price for a gallon of regular now is about $3.94/gallon.You keep hearing about the profits Oil Companies make,how about a break for us poor little guys that stimulate the economy..don't we deserve something back for the amount of gas we buy in our lifetime.Maybe give us free gas for a year or something...sheesh!!!!!! And here Government
taxes on fuel is ridiculous also.Just can't cut a break..GREED GREED GREED!!!
 
Great profits BUT if you run the numbers on how much oil they processed and sold they really don't turn that good of a profit, only around 10%. To make that 45 billion profit the had to SELL 4.5 Trillion sell in product. If we took away ALL there profits it would have only dropped the price of gas roughly 15-20 cents..................... I Agree that they made a HUGE profit in many peoples Eyes BUT its not the great evil that many "politicians" would like you to believe. The company I work for, USSteel, Just had its best year EVER for profits and did better than the 10% profit margin that Mobil turned. Heck, most smaller companies turn better than a 10% margin.

I see what you are saying Ranger.

I, like a lot of folks just think it's strange that the gas stations seem to be the main place we see major fluctuations(like day to day) in price for little to no reason. There is a hurricane in the gulf..better raise the price of gas, it's summer and a holiday weekend..better raise the price of gas, a union might go on strike..better raise the price of gas and on and on.

Then my question is: Is it the governmental taxes that's kicking all our butts? I wouldn't think the cost to refine has doubled or trippled over the last few years. What else is there, but GREED somewhere in this equation?

Very astute point and it hits right to the heart of what people around here think too.Oh there might be a problem with a refinery somewhere lets raise the price of crude or like you said a storm in the Gulf.Give me a friggin break.I've been told by someone who pays attention to politics a lot more than I do that a $.01/litre (that's one cent) raise in the gas price here in Canada resulted in a windfall of tax dollars in the hundreds of millions of dollars!!!
You tell me who's getting azz raped here!!!! We are already the most highly taxed province (NB) in the country if I'm not mistaken and we have to get politicians telling us that the good times are just around the corner.Yeah right.
 
fourbarrel..here in Manitoba we are pretty well heavily taxed like you guys also.Yep that makes me sick when I hear that about a 1 cent increase creats millions of tax dollars.Is our Government GREEDY..You betcha.No break for us middle class workers is there.The poor get welfare..the rich pay no taxes and the middle income guys flips the bill for all.MAKES real good sense.I for one will never ever vote for useless azz's again..ever.They are all the same..every party.They make sure their pockets are lined first.
My partner and I spend so much on gas travelling to job sites outside the city that it is insane.
Don't know about your Province,but in Manitoba I heard 40% of the work force works for the Government.Got to keep them gas prices and taxes high,cause we have to pay for their wage and perks so that they are happy first...BS!!!!! I personally would cut Government in half and make the ones there really work for a chaNGE.

LOL I meet a customer on a job that used to work for the Government.He told me what he saw going on ,that he could not take it anymore..so he quite his job there. He told me there was a guy in his department that did nothing all day long and did this for many..many years.Nobody really knew what his position was.He told me that this guy would come to work..grab this folder and put it under his arm and walk around all day with it..looking important.And then go home.He did this every day and year after year.The folder was turning yellow already.But that is our tax dollars going to some no good for nothing piece of crap so called Government worker.I am sure the guy has a full pension by now..must be nice doing nothing all your life and getting paid for it.This kind of stuff drives me insane.Same thing as City Workers.Once there were 4-5 City Employees caught sleeping in their City Vehicle.A City Resident(taxpayer took a pic of them with their camera and sent it to the Newspapers here .) Imagine the look on their faces.And I remember another story where a City Worker(FORMAN) was caught at home working on his side job while on City Time Clock.He was doing Cabinet building for a customer while being paid by the City(Us the taxpayers payed for him to.) I say cut City and Government jobs in half and make them accountable or out the door you go.Pisses me off that they can get a full pension after a minimun number of years,while the reat of us struggle to age 65 or more to make ends meet.It will and has to stop.Times are changing and us the taxpayer are sick of the waste and abuse . I say only people who ride Yamaha's should be allowed in Government..what u think modsrx...lol
 
Even here in the states, if you look at the numbers, the big winner in oil is the Government. Like it was said Oil companies see 10% profit on a good year. The state & Fed govs see something like 55 cents per gal. I sure feel for you guys up ther that are still paying close to $4, but today I filled up for $1.79/gal. that 55 cents to the gov is alot biger than a 10% profit! And in Oregon I see that are thinking about taxing your mileage because they think they don't get enough money the way it is! Geez!

i know it work that way blue and it sucks .... i know many people who work there and the only things they do in a day is to send joke via email from work lolllllll.......its a huge mafia why u think they are in war with hells angel ...pay pay pay and pay ........... and get less eatch day .they lost so mutch money everywhere the business is to big to be control ...
 
You are guys are all missing the point, the Goverment should not take all the blame in the rising Gas prices, I'll get back to them in a moment. Gas 2 years ago cost the same to manufacture as of today.. We were told there was a shortage and supply and demand was the reason gas prices were as high as they were. Wrong the reserves are still the same, gas still cost the same to manufacture so why the high prices. It was all speculation that drove the prices up in the stock market. Now back to the Goverment they are partly to blame because they should not have let this go on, instead they just sat back and took all our hard earned money and watched the country go into a resession.

they let uss know what people wanna know lolllll... they pay the gaz so cheap but they transfert the shipping so many time so eatch time gaz price raise ....every people that touch the stuff take a bit of money on it so went it come here it goes over many hands so thats why the price raised so mutch...u buy a parts 10$ the buyer buy it then sell it 20 the buyer buy 20$ than sale 30$ so this is the way gaz come here and why it is not cheap ...+ gouvernement taxe it
