how tall a riser are you going with? i found the stock mtn viper to be the longest. rsi or gravityworks has longer cables as well. i think richmotorsports can get these for you.

It's pretty strange though. I had 12" riser and straight bar WITHOUT ext. my cables!
Only the brakehose!

well you obviously don't have a 2002 Mountain Max, they are not even close to go any longer then 2.5" taller

sells the throttle and oil cables as a set for about $75. Not sure if he will sell just the oil cable. Put a set on my SRX - nice product

I have a 2001 MM... Just have to re-route the oil/throttle cable through the airbox.

I have already done that, 2002 cables are shorter, only allowed me to run 2.5" and it's bar tight, some more play in the throttle cable this wah though.

The stock cables on an '00 are routed around the pipe side of the airbox. If you want taller bars just route them over the top in the little groove in the middle of the air box.
I am running '00 cables on my '97 with 6" riser. The cables are still routed around the box. They are a little tight but they work. The bars them selfs are shorter on the '97 to '99 bars from the handles to the mount by about 1.5".

This was already done when I raised mine 2.5" last year, there is not enough room guys, i don't know why no-one believes me, but it just wont' fit routed over the airbox, I ordered a set of cables to fix my problem, another thing that made it harder to route was i have a boost bottle on there and that's preventing me from moving the cable back too much, this may have something to do with that too..

Do you have the stock bars or have they been changed to MNT Viper bars

I believe you. Haveing same issue with 99 sx 700. I'm going to try using two powermadd throttle extension kits.MountainMax said:This was already done when I raised mine 2.5" last year, there is not enough room guys, i don't know why no-one believes me, but it just wont' fit routed over the airbox, I ordered a set of cables to fix my problem, another thing that made it harder to route was i have a boost bottle on there and that's preventing me from moving the cable back too much, this may have something to do with that too..

good, lol, I have stock bars, but I had a custom steering column made, light weight out of chromemoly and had it made 2.5" longer, the most i could go with stock cables, now I want to add mtn viper bars or put in a 3" extension, I bought a longer brake hose, that was bar tight, and the throttle could go a bit further but not the oil cable, new ones on the way will fix her up..

I have an 02' MM700. I went 4 1/2 inches... You have to reroute the cables. All I needed was a longer brake line.

Yeah, I believe you too. I have a 2000 and 2001 MM 700. Was told all I could go was 2", so I put 2" on both (powermadd) and I constantly have to stop, pop the hood, and push the oil line back in. Found out the hard way when went through a whole tank of oil (3+ quarts) in less than a tank of gas.
Going to try the route through the airbox trick. Thanks..
