I am going to be ordering a clutch alignment tool from Hartman Inc and was wondering how to go about this. I am smart enough to figure it out but if you guys know of some tricks or shortcuts it would be much appreciated. I think I should get my center to center first and then put the clutches back on and get the offset correct.
I also want to know how do I tell if I have a bad motor mount?
I have been blowing the cord out of my belts on the outside of the belt.(away from the motor) That's why I'm doing the alignment. So any insight you guys have would help greatly.
Thanx,
Corey

I would say you have the secondary offset too much outward(towards the bellypan) or the clutches are not in alignment(motor turned counterclockwise). That could result from a broken motor mount.

Ok I know to move the primary you have to move the motor. How do you move the secondary?

By adding or removing washers on the jackshaft(between the secondary clutch and the bearing).

Ok. Right now when I take off the secondary ther are no washers behind the secondary. All I've got are the 2 thin ones and the thick one on the outside.

Is a washer between the secondary and the bearing standard?

It's hard to tell without a belt on the sled and even then it can sometimes be hard to tell. It looks like the secondary might be a little bit too far in compared to the primary clutch. Like I said though, hard to tell.

I will just do the alignment being that I took the pipes and airbox off yesterday. I have only been able to hit 94.6 on the GPS on a 1/2 mile run. I think the belt slip has a lot to do with the low top end. I am also changing my gears from 23/37 to 23/38. I know its a lower gear ratio but I will try anyway. Thanx for the help. Can I order the washer from my dealer? If so what do I ask for?
