Just got back from the U.P. ride... Overall we put on about 480 miles, well 7 of the 8 of us did... Friday was a flawless day, trails were awesome and we were out from noon till about 9:30 at night.... Saturday was a different story. Everyones sleds were runnin great and trails were real nice, we were up in L'anse and i was leading the group of 8 at the time, and we started heading to marquette, so it was me, my boss on the F7 and my buddy on his 99srx in a bunch crusin down the trail... The other 5 were back in l'anse because they were having problems with their visors fogging up.... We usually have pretty decent gaps in between riders so when we pulled over to wait we didn't think any thing of it.... then one of the guys on a f7 from our group came crusin up and found us and asked if we got a call from one of the guys back in L'anse, we said "no... why?" he said, well i guess he damn near totalled out his sled back in L'anse over by the hill top restaraunt by that bridge. long story short, two guys went back to let them know that we were headin back to the hotel to get the truck and trailer.... it was about 85 miles back to three lakes on trails.....

To make matters worse my boss' truck was runnin low on diesel so he had to pull off to the side of the road on the way back to the hotel with the totalled sled.... so i had to get out there and pick up a gas can and then go the opposite way 25 miles to champion and get diesel and the B.p. gas station.

This was all at 3:30 this morning.

Glad my sled didn't get F*cked... His left side swing arm is trashed, welds are ripped off, It smashed into the primary clutch bending the crank at the bearing... and the steering column is bent, and for some reason the kill switch button is missing :o| its only a cat.

There was a narrow bridge... down a hill.. the sign said bridge... but hes illiterate. was doing about 30-40 when he hit the guard rail on the side. it was wierd it was a strait trail but over the hill it was a sharp left to clear the bridge...

That morning (saturday) 6 of the 8 ran out of gas on the trail because it was a long haul before we saw a city... and we filled up the night before... but we were messin around on the lake by the hotel before we left so that burned fuel... i was runnin on fumes when i got to the gas station... i put 11.5 gallons in.

one of our cat guys towed a polaris to the gas station and i pulled a f7 and my buddy pulled the four stroke jag turbo. i was surprised the 4 stroke ran out of gas... I don't think he filled up the night before.

I did tackle the bluff over in the houghton area.... that was intense... i went up in 3.5 times and got stuck near the top on the last run because i bottomed out on the running boards.. i made my own path up the last time tho... Never seen my friends run so fast to help me out... two guys held the ski tips and one help the brake and i lifted the rear end up on to some hard pack snow and pinned it and burried my boss to his knees tring to get up the hill... i made it...

went up to westbranch two weeks ago got 11.8mpg on the XTC as good
as the new ski-poo's and plara dog's i rode with, kep up and out front allot
of times too,not bad for a 11 year old...LOL!!!!! :yam:

yea i love it! i was leading a majority of the time.... I hate being last.... just in case somethin happened and they decide not to look back for like 20 miles... opps... alot of the time i was in the middle... I ride right up behind the person in front of me its the best way to ride... Too far back and i might as well lead... not close enough and your getting snow dust... I'm quicker on the brake then they will be... lol.... Leading sucks if your not familiar with trails. and you come up on stuff that scares ya... when i'm not leading i can guess whats ahead by the guy in front of me.... But if its wide winding then i'm leading.... we were going a good 75-80mph thru the wide winding trails... I wasn't cutting corners either don't worry. got up to 105 on gps on a strait that was a good feeling... i got to ride a f7 for about 30 miles.... love it.. ride quality is awesome.... just doesn't have the snap that my srx has tho.

I put stingers on my sled too, i am heard... haha.
