i'am running a 02 600 vmax with 4.5 gram inner rivet 3.1 outer, with a multi angle helix not sure what angle from pioneer performance, set at 90. also have a stronger primary spring with two shims. i was running a ultimax 3 belt and it would only rev to 8000. backshift poor ran bad altogether. changed to my spare belt a stock yamaha belt now it backshifts great revs right at 8400 and rips every where!! but my question is do i have a problem that is being masked or is it the belts? thanks aslo if it is the belts why?

it is the 2 different belts. One is a softer compound and one is a harder compound. One year I got my SXR600 setup dead on with the ultimax belt.Rpm's in the right places and all.It felt like a race sled the way it responded. THEN...I blew that damn belt pretty quick.Switched over to my stock OEM belt and all the rpm's were out of wack again, had to change the rivets again to get it close.Stick to OEM belt always.I never ever blew a Yamaha belt in all my years of sledding.

i am dialed in with the ultimax as well, the 8dn belt i use as a spare does all kinds of wacky stuff when i need to use it, gotta crack the trottle when taking it easy to get it to upshift.

zehrbrox im interested in your name Zehr. Might I be relation from upstate NY with sxr 700 bender upgrades.

adam not sure doubt it though. don't know too many other zehr's that are related to me.

I blew an Ultimax belt within 300 miles of installing it. I even broke it in right by not gunning it the first few rides and it still blew. Went back to oem and never another problem.

Anyone been using Gates Xtreem belts with the kevlar in them???? I LOVE them on my ski doo and just put one on my yamaha. I get them at the local NAPA. Ski doo belts are $66 a piece and have not been able to get more than 600 miles on them. Ran the daycos and liked them but not as tuff as the Gates Xtreems. Mileage and performance, cant beat them, but i have not put many miles on the yamaha yet. And the girlfriend likes to ride the vmax cuz it steers better obviously. :2strokes:

compound and length are the issues on an aftermarket belt.ive tried a extreme and its to hard have to turn more weight then a yamie belt the yamie belt will run more consistant everywhere and last longer i have 3800 kilos on a belt and still in good condition
