m10 or monoshock

For trail running I recommend the monoshock. I love the stock look of the sleds rear end not all up in the air.

Good question. Seems like a lot of folks pull the mono and go to an M10. Anyone out there do this and have feedback?

I bought a used 2001? (beat up) M10 and am installing it now. Careful if you by a used M10. Spent a small fortune reconditioning it. Most of the holes in the rail were egged out, there are no replacable bushings in the four main swing-arm pivot points, and the front torque arm holes were egged also. When you compare the beef of Yamaha Pro-action, it is surprising. Rebuilding/reconditioning the FOX shocks cost me $225.00 alone. Use the correct hyfax or you will get your rear shock bottom looking like this...

Hopefully the improved ride is worth it....

WOW...looks like this was beat! I have one of the older purple metric m10's in my srx and it has held up great with no issues.

Love the ride!

I did have to replace the rear shock spring last year with one of the new black ones, which is a tad different then the old stock one. Now waiting for the garage to warm up so I can pull the shocks and run them over to Team Fast for a rebuild, it's nice that Gerards shop is only 4 blocks away! :)

why did you have to replace the spring? what is the difference between the 2?

I don't think the prior owner tightened the bolts enough, used loktite, and checked them each season. I drilled the rail holes over-sized and put in steel bushings on the egged holes. I am also using loktite on all the fasteners, and will check them regularly.

I have to comment that Team Fast has been great to work with, and they really helped me figure out and square away the M10 skid. After selling my Pro-Action I will have about $425 into the new-again skid so it's still a good deal.

The springs do go soft after awhile per Fast...10 years on the same spring. New spring is a tad shorter.

Your probly rite, seen were owners have done that before. Checking the skids regularly is something I learnded long ago...takes only minutes but saves in the long run.

Fast is great to work with...great customer service and VERY knowledgeable staff...right down to the admin answering the phones.
Have seen the big Factory Yamaha race team rig at Team Fast. Rumour is he is helping them with race set-ups...I did not see which drivers name was on the trailer, but I'll poke a bit when I go pick up my shocks. ;)!

Went from pro action to M-10. night to day difference. Have never rode a mono shock. A dealer that did said it was the closest thing yamaha made to the M-10.
