been going through a 00 srx i picked up. got the engine up to speed but was reving 9-9200 by the tach (however accurate that is). bought some heavy hitters, installed them the way they came loaded as a starting point with a new yamaha belt. after a few hours on the trails I took it to the lake where they were doing radar runs the next day. gave it to her down the fresh ice track. 8200 out the gate climbed to 8600 and held, 105 at the 1000ft mark on the dream meter. awesome, what an improvement. figured i'd be adding a little more weight to get it to 84-8500. here's where I get thrown. 2 days later go for an afternoon ride with some friends, haven't touched the weights yet and all I can get is 8-8200 rpms. weird
it all depends of the condition but maybe u have a pull thru power valve ....keep them clean

i'll put money on it, that the 1st day you had it out for the radar runs, that it was cold, w/minimal hardpack snow.....little friction, and the day you took it out to get only 8200 rpms, that it was warmer out and softer snow conditions.....probably 4 in of snow or something. what helix you running and how many grams in each location on the weight? what primary spring are you using?

was a little warmer second time out(day vs night) probably 7-8 degrees, no more or less snow but softer and beat up from all the sleds out, weight right now is 53.3 gram weights with 1/2" allen (2.1gram) in #1, steel 3/8 heads (2.6 grams) in both #2 and #3 with no washers. primary spring is yby (in sled when i got it), secondary is black? was at 120 dgrs when i got it, i changed it to 80 dgrs, not sure what the helix is the # on it is 8bv 71 if that's any help
thanks
thanks
outch 120 your clutch must be warm ... slack that secondary and remove some weight a little from primary... not sure if turk ever used them but i'm sure he can bring u in a good start

that 8bv70 helix is straight 47. what is the base grams of your heavy hitters? i can ballpark you close. do you have the black heavy hitter 150/300 primary spring? what is the color of the paint mark on your black secondary spring. 120 deg wrap is rediculous. don't exceed 80deg for sure. do you have any other helixs to try? if not, get a 50/40 helix. those work awesome as, do 54/44 and 54/46 helixs on the srxs w/heavy hitters. get a yamaha green secondary spring if you don't already have one.

base grams is 53.3, all I have is the yby primary that came on the sled, but would gladly take a suggestion as to a spring to get. the secondary spring has no visible paint marks other than the black coating, was thinking of a green spring as well. that helix is all I have. i see you have a lot of parts in the classifieds, pm me if u have a good primary spring and secondary spring/ helix combo for sale, I might be interested
thanks

that's good that you have the 53g heavy hitters, cause the 48's are kinda light....you can get them to work, just have to load the heck outta them. my buddy actually has a brand new heavy hitter 150/300 spring, that i'm sure he would get rid of....it was kinda a ooops. he bought a heavy hitter kit, expecting it to not come w/a spring, so he bought a spring, and the kit ended up coming w/a spring, so i'm sure he'll let it go, as right now its a spare. i'll ask him tonight when i see him. any of these helixs will work well....54/44, 54/46, and 50/40. there are others i'm sure that would work too, but those were the only ones that i played w/the heavy hitters. i personally don't have anything for sale that would help you out....sorry. i seen in the classifieds, a few days ago, that there was a 54/46 dalton helix for sale.

yep, you only give it just enough to get desired backshift....no more.

yeah getting a new green and starting at 60, with whatever this black spring is at 80 it doesn't want to backshift unless i really slow down, any way changing bothe springs and helix (thanks mopar), but before i get an influx of cleaning prompts, all is clean bushings are good as well as buttons
