I need some help on my clutching setup. I have a Bender Power Shift clutch kit that is not working so well. They said they had sold some bad secondary springs and I have on of the green colored springs they had mentioned. Right know engagement is inconsistent and shift is anywhere from 8400-9000. Was wondering if someone could let me know if some color of a factory springs or some other springs would work in this kit. Dont know much about clutching but I am trying to figure it out. It came with a 47/43 helix and the weights are stock 42.09 gram 8DN-17605-20 with inner and outer rivets both the same at 17.2. If someone could steer me towards a set of springs to work in this combo that would be greatly appreciated. Am looking for a good trail setup with good backshift and acceleration. Any help appreciated, Thanks!!

If I was you I would scrap that helix and get something like a 54/44 dalton. Use the same weights load them with 4.5 gram rivits and try a ywy yami spring and a green secondary at 70. 47/43 is not a very aggressive angle for a srx 700!! Do some searching on the site and you will find many many many posts to help you!!!

yeah, that helix is junk. you can get a 52/42 helix too, as those work well. you could get a green spring as already stated, but i had success w/red spring @ 80deg and 52/42 helix.

Is there any way I could get by with just springs and possibly rivets to work with this helix? I was happy with the stock acceleration with the stock 47 helix just looking for a quicker backshift for trail riding?

make sure all the bushing in primary work good and nothing bend ...engagement is suppose to alway be the same

I have tried 70 80 90 wrap and none have had satisfactory results. the springs are bender springs with primary yellow blue stripe, and black secondary with green stripe

how many miles are on the springs? I think that mod is on to something.....Coil bind or bushings are wore??

i think u should disassemble that clutch and check for worn parts (bushing ,roller ..).. try to have always the same engagement...if it bind ur gonna have problem ask bluemonster :-)))

Rollers and weight bushings feel good, new cam buttons on secondary, bushings seem to be fine. Clutch worked when bender kit put in, was just looking for more backshift on tight trails. Bender said they had premature failure on the secondary springs. Would like to replace with yamaha springs to try and eliminate the problem. Engagement varies with throttle input, secondary shiftout varies and sometimes will bog motor down in midrange.

with a 47-43 u shoudnt have any backshift problem ....u can try a green or red yammi secondary if u wanna put a new one

If the sheave and spider looks good I would go to a different spring in the primary..try a ywy like I stated before and a red spring...That would put you at stock srx 700 springs and then you could always change back if it doesn't work....I don't know what else to say!!!!!!!!! To really tell what is going on with those springs we need to know exactly what is going on when you pin it engagement, shift and wot at that point someone can walk you through your problem!!!!!

Thats what it feels like, almost if the springs are getting weak. If you pin the gas from a dead stop motor rips but sometimes it screams up to 9000 and sometimes it shifts around 8300-8500 pullin real hard. Also it depends from a dead stop when you pin it when the clutches engage fully and sometimes it seems like it is almost slipping out of the hole.
