Hello, I have not posted in a while, but have been trying to find info on something, but now may be to late. 2 years ago before the spring I did something to the engine to allow more oil to go in the engine, so as to close the sled for the summer without having to damage it when the season comes back. I didn't use the sled last year for some unknown reason, but I wanted to use it this year. I am able to start it, and theres lots of blue smoke, I remember doing something to it when I closed her down, but now I can't remember what I dd. Here is the bigger problem, I started it yesterday again to move it out of the way and it smoked like crazy (blue) when trying advance I would have to rev her really high 6500rpm, any how, after maybe 10 minutes of idleing at a very low rpm I tried to move it again and then a whole lot of white smoke and banging sounds from the engine. I turned it off right away, thinking it may be the head gasket that blew but I want to make sure. What should I do?

Dario

the banging was problaby cyl's fouling out/missing poping. you probably
held the oil pump wide open to flood the motor with oil to "fogg" the motor with a good coating of oil.

put fresh new plugs in and let her run higher idle hold the throttle 3000+ till cleared up....

Daman, I can't for the life of me locate this darn oil thing a ma jig. I know I did it I can't seem to find it, do you have a pic?

Oil pump adjustment screw and its a 95 and not a 96 not sure if it makes a difference.

Ok if you want to adjust oil pump here's how......

in order;

1st- set idle to 16- 1,7000 rpm's(@ operating temp)

2nd- set throttle end play to 2mm(adjustment for that is here )

3rd- set oil pump,,with engine off hold throttle wide open and look down
at the oil pump make sure alinment marks are lined up,OR just before
lining up(2mm)(for less oil),your adjustment for the oil cable is here in this adjusting joint,pull back rubber sheave's and 1# is the lock nut 2# is your adjusting ring,turn 2# in or out when set lock nut 1# then replace rubber sheave's half's
