I have recently purchased a 2001 SRX 700 and the power seems good and the guy I purchased it from did all the work to the sled and does alot of mods he said he cleaned the valves right before I got it.. How do I know if I have a pull through on a valve?

I just read alot about people talking about it happening.. Won't I notice a power difference?

yes will be down on power some but still hard to tell by the butt dyno..
open it up and check, just 4 simple bolts on the housing, need to remove the pipes too.

I can get all my valves out without removing pipes, no problem. Last pull through I had found it at the servo motor, cable was loose. pull the servo cover & check.

the spring in the cable end pv side gives false feel of the pv being not pulled ,,pull pipe 1 and open pv housings to tell for 100%.

Question is do you trust the guy?A lot of people have no problem telling lies when it comes to selling something.I would check them myself anyway.A buddy of mine just bought an SRX and when he went to clean the valves one was only half there.
How do you tell when a salesman is lying? His mouth is open.

Yep pull the valves and check for yourself...no need to pull pipes though...can get them all in and out with everything in place.

I have known him for a long time and I also work with him so I trust him but I'm gonna pull em anyway just to check them out and cause I can't leave things alone especially if I can find a way to get more juice..

I bough my SRX last year from a reputable member here. He had cleaned the PV's at the start of last year. I did a maximum of 2000km. When I checked them this year I had one pull through and one half way.
We where both shocked by this. Always a good idea to keep an eye on things.

What exactly causes PV pull thru ? Is it adjustment, or dirty valves sticking, or both/either? When did the "improved PV's" hit the production sleds. I have an 02 Viper ER and so far so good....

Both...lots of things contribute to pv's gumming up,jetting,oil richness,throttle,it all play's a part.
clean 2-3 times a season depending on mileage, yamaha makes a additive called "ring free" that is good i hear,,use that too a few times a year.

daman correct me if i am wrong ...but if you take off the servo cover and pull each cable with your finger ...wouldnt onr that is pulled through not feel the same easier to pull and no rebound from the spring ??? i could be way off ...bontop2 said:I have recently purchased a 2001 SRX 700 and the power seems good and the guy I purchased it from did all the work to the sled and does alot of mods he said he cleaned the valves right before I got it.. there's a spring in the end of the PV cable that helps return the PV back toYA*AM*A*HEAD said:daman correct me if i am wrong ...but if you take off the servo cover and pull each cable with your finger ...wouldnt onr that is pulled through not feel the same easier to pull and no rebound from the spring ??? i could be way off ...
closed position part #22,, that's gives you false feeling of the pv being good if you pull the cover and push on the cable it will return like normal because of that spring, pulled or not you'll feel resistance.only way is to open it up and look

thats rite ,,,you would have to take off the 4 allen head bolts and remove valve and see if it is still connected or falls off

yep the only way to know for sure....
