Clutching the 700 SRX

I know it's been discussed a million times but I'm still messing with my clutch setup. My main question is what is the ideal rpms for the 700? From punching it from a stand still through mid range and top speed?
Right now Mine goes straight to 83-8400 and stays there until it hits 8500 at about 100 mph. I currently have a Green Silver Green primary spring,8dn20s with 3.6 inner and 4.5 tip, 50/44 Helix Red secondary spring at 80. I should also note I have the stock 23/37 gears and a 1.6 non studded track. It hooks up pretty well but still spins a fair amount on groomed trail while lifting the skis a few inches off the snow. I'm thinking the next step would be a green secondary spring so I can reduce the twist while maintaing the rpms. If anyones not too sick of talking about clutching would you pass along your knowledge/experience please. The rpm question is what I'm really wondering. Thanks ;)!
 
For a 98 700, shoot for 8100 - 8200 out of the hole, that is where your maxium torque is. Put a 4.5 gram rivit in the inner hole and back the secondary twist to 70. You should be right in the ball park.
 
keep the secondary wrap at 80 with that helix. Changing inner rivet should be all you need.

Turk, I thought that the stock 98's should run no more than 8400rpm, that is way I said to take 10degrees off the secondary spring?
 
He is running a real steep helix with a soft secondary spring. That helix needs at least 80 wrap & probably a green at 60-70 would be better. If the side pressure on the driven is any less the belt will slip & it will bog off the line. Changing inner river should make all well.

Thanks Guys

As you'll see by my latest post my engine went this morning so no more clutch problems for a while! :roll: But I already had the three 4.5 rivets ordered so I will be trying that when I'm up and running again. I just wasn't sure how much rpm spread I should have. This was answered perfectly and I'm thinking like you Turk on the secondary. Who knows maybe I'll never dare pin it again? :dunno:
