I was running the sled this afternoon and noticed that when I switched head light from low to high, bulb would flicker and tach would bounce around. I turned off and checked bulb, good condition. Ohm checked wires, continuity was good from switch the bulb. Ohm checked checked wire for short to ground, no continuity, huh. I figured it had to be a problem while running, possible vibration issue. I looked at main harness, it was pinched under lower hose by water pump. Moved wire, start and test, lights ok. I pulled exhaust, and harness, found the Yellow high beam wire to be worn through the insulation. I cut the wire spliced with heat shrink connector, installed some protective wire loom material. I am surpised Yamaha did not have any more protection other than black tape. Total time of repair was under an hour. I was glad it happened int he shop while on the stand, and not on the trail. Al
