Can anyone tell me how to set up the secondary clutch on my machine?? Put on a new belt and now it seems to be too tight. the engine wants to die when idling and when driving at slow speeds it squeels. Any info would be appreciated.

remove secondary(14mm)
turn over and remove the 3 bolts on back
remove the washers off the bolts
put the bolts back in,

tourqe secondary bolt to 46 ft lbs.

should be good to go keep washers for later when belt wears.

Are you sure that it was the right belt? Sounds like it is way to tight if it won't even idle. There is an adjustment for belt height/deflection on the back of the secondary but it probably won't fix this problem - assuming clutches are stock. Was the old belt worn out or blown? how did it work with the old belt? New belts sometimes tend to squeel for awhile then when the belt breaks in it stops - but never enough drag on the clutches to stall the motor! If you take the secondary off you will find three 8mm headed bolts with shims under them likely. Remove the shims and it will lower the belt in the secondary. This usually works in mild cases of squealing but may not in your case.

did the old belt squeel and thats why you replaced it? is the primary spring bent! I had a similar problem, the belt would be fine when I first started it but after you rode it any distance even 50ft. it would squeel. I bought a new belt and had the same result. It turned out the primary spring was bent not letting the clutch open all the way.

No the old belt was getting wore out so I just decided to replace it. It is the corect blet. It actually doesn't stall the engine right out it drops the rpms. Do you have to take the seconday apart to take the shims out or can you do it with it together. I know the bolts that you guys are talking about.
