Hit a railroad track at speed, bent the strut back a few inches :)
Here's a pic of the bent strut i took off,(89 exciter),
the other strut ( with narrower base)came off a 92 exciter, what suspension do I have?
Is the bent one a TSS ? and if so, will a TSS strut fit directly on in place of the standard unit?
Could the struts/skis be off a phazer or enticer, did they have straight diameter tubes ?
I also noticed that the bracket that mounts the strut to the ski is smaller on the exciter part, uses shims, where the one on my sled does not, appx 3/4" wider,,,,

thanks

Ouch - that must have hurt!!

As far as I know, all EX's came with the tapered/stepped down version. The straight version I believe came on the SRV's and early Phazer's. I think the change over came around '87.

Could the straight version be aftermarket?

I'm sure someone here can give you better advice than I did.

A.

Edit: Is this sled an Exciter or something different? Are you asking if you can mount an EX strut on another sled?

Didn't hurt too much, I landed about 20 feet away in a snowdrift.
My sled is an 1989 Exciter. I bought a 1987 Exciter yesterday for parts. It is all original,(2000 miles) from the original owner.
I also bought a 91 strut from a local, it is tapered end. The 87 is a tapered end too.
I believe that my BENT strut and the saddle are off another Yam model, but which one,,????? enticer, v max,
Does anyone have a STRUT to sell like the bent one only straight??

I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Just got the 87 pistons unstuck,, after a hone and new gaskets,, should be an excellent $150 rider.

Hi Chuck I'll buy them. Left you a voice mail on your work phone. What model are they off of ?
